Life Science Robotics:
From strong technology to an investable growth plan

Case Study

Background

Life Science Robotics develops two robotic platforms for healthcare. ARUS automates ultrasound diagnostics, and ROBERT is used for rehabilitation of patients recovering from injury and illness.

The challenge
LSR had the technology and the clinical use cases in place. But to raise new capital, management needed sharp answers to the questions investors ask first. Where will growth come from? What will it cost? And when will the company be profitable?

The strategy existed in management’s heads and in scattered documents. There was no single plan, and no model linking strategic choices to the financials.

Axion’s Role

Axion was engaged by LSR’s management and board to develop the strategy, investor materials and a financial model showing the assumptions behind every strategic choice.

Strategy, financial modelling and investor materials

Axion delivered a complete package, with each part building on the last:

  • A 5-year strategic plan prioritising markets, products and go-to-market for both platforms.

  • A 5-year financial model supporting and explaining the growth strategy. The model is built around the real drivers: key offerings, geographies, COGS, OPEX and capital needs.

  • An investor teaser and investor presentation telling the story clearly and backing it with the numbers from the model.

The point was to make strategy and numbers fit together. Every assumption in the model traces back to a choice in the strategy. That lets management stand behind the plan in front of investors.

Results

LSR has adopted the strategy and is executing on it together with its current owners. The teaser and investor presentation have been used actively in discussions with potential investors.

“Axion made our strategy and financials fit together, and challenged our assumptions along the way. It’s the plan we work by today.”
